View Full Version : Would this work for possible mold in the home? And thoughts on seed & aspergillosis

I found this online when searching for non-toxic ways to remove mold. Dixie is not sleeping in the room where the hot water tank leaked anymore, possibly where she was overwhelmed by asper? If she does indeed have it, can't wait to see the avian specialist on Tuesday to get a more definite answer..hopefully.

Anyway, here's the link.

What do you all think? Or should I just get them out of here for a while and use bleach?

We are going to remove the carpet, tear out the places in the wall that got wet and look for mold. And, also treat it with something, just in case there is mold we can't see. We will be using a respirator to pull the carpet and tear into the walls. I also need to get a good air purifier for that room. I think I've found one pretty reasonably priced, a Holmes. I want to be very careful and not release a lot of spores into the air if there are any. I think I will hang thick plastic over the doorway too.

Another thought about the asper. I recently ran out of her regular seed that I give her as treats and bought another brand. I hope there wasn't any mold in it. It's a well known name brand, won't mention it because I don't know for sure if the seed is even responsible, it just bothers me about the peanuts that were in it. I so wish I hadn't given her that seed. I didn't see any mold when I checked it after hearing the results of her asper titer. Since her droppings are different, I'm now wondering if she has the asper (if that's in fact what it is) in her digestive tract.

Can someone recommend a good seed brand that has no peanuts, raisins, and all the other added fruits/veggies? Something with just seed?

Thanks!

Debbie
