How do I get Sammy to play with toys??

Sammy my LCA is a rehome birdie..and I got her 2 years ago..and she has improved soo much! Sammy does not know how to play with toys..no matter what kind of toys I give her,wood,foraging,shredable,etc...she does not play..She bops around her toys occaisonally...but not very often..and I bop them around and show her how to play...I have even given her diff. size toys,large bird toys,small,and medium..and she does not play at all..and it makes me sad..b/c my other birds play..but she does not..she gets out and explores around the birdroom and is out of her cage almost all day...and loves to be on me...snuggling..but I don't know what to do anymore...Any suggestions??

Also she does not eat veggies/fruit either...I have tried homemade Birdie Bread..and I have also tried pretending to eat them myself,I have also tried cutting them up into diff. sizes/shapes...she will somtimes eat Apples,or oranges,What else can I do so she will eat them?
She eats Roudybush,a little Kaylor of Colorado seed mix,mixed dried organic fruits,and veggies,and fresh veggies and fruits as well as birdie bread..she gets 1/4 of Roudybush every day and 1 TBSP of seed each day,a birdie bread muffin..and a bowl full of veggies...This is actually what all of my birds eat..except my tiels and conures get a little more seeds,and the tiels eat Zupreem,but as soon as that is gone I am switching them to Roudybush,or Zupreem Natural.:)

Have you tried playing with the toys while she is out with you... not trying to get her to play but you play and act like you are having a lot of fun... you never know she might try to play too. Pretend it's something she is not supposed to have....

I have tried that also...except the keep away part...I will try that tomorrow and let you know how it works!

Victoria, she's a Zon. I have 2 of them. Neither one would play with a toy when I got them, I've had my mealy for 3 1/2 yrs & my OWA for 4 1/2 yrs and neither of them really plays with toys. The ones they do play with are "simple" Not much to them at all, here are some of them...

A strip of leather about 12" long with 3 knots.
a piece of wood 6" inches long with 3 holes in it and 3 pieces of leather through the holes with a bead tied on each end.
a stick much the same as the toy above.
the large pinata toys.
crazy cluster {from drs foster/smith}

that's all I can get them to touch.

Sammy loves chewing knots...that is 1 of the things she will play with!

If Sammy likes nots, take a wiffle ball, string long pieces of leather through the holes, and put beads and knots all along the strands. You can make huge, or little strands, have all the colors the same, vary, whatever you think. This is one of the easiest toys to make, and quite often a big hit with birds that do not play much!

Above is a link to the Busy Birdie Ball. You put some pieces of leather and pieces of drinking straw in it and then drop in a couple of pine nuts. I promise she will work for those nuts.

Below is a link to the Prize Patrol - Large. If you want to buy it you can ask Monica if it comes in a smaller size. I make them and my YNA re-home loves them. They all do. The secret is hiding pine nuts and pistachios in there.

Does Sammy have a swing?That seems to be a big hit in our house.Even Beau(YNA)who used to never play now plays.He's been with us for 2 years now.And loves anything with wood and wiffle balls on it.Delta from the Perch made me that toy but I don't think I have any pictures.

She has a swing..and I hung it in her cage...but she was scared of it..I put her on it and she got right off..I have left it in her cage and it went untouched.
Ok..can you take a pic for me?
