I am so excited, I can hardly stand myself! :dancered:
I am getting a whiteface, cinnamon, baby cockatiel when he's weaned and ready to go.
I meet him next week at the bird fair here in NC!
He was born on Valentine's day, and is absolutely beautiful! :yeah:
I can't wait!
I have been emailing the breeder for the past week trying to get all of the information I can.
I will post pictures after Saturday, because I will, of course, take my camera.
I've been working on getting a cage ready (we have three extra now that we have the other birds in their new King's cage) and it seems that the only thing I will really need to get is some new perches, and maybe a cuddly, if he's used to one.
The little guy's head is solid white, and so is his tail. His back and wings are brown. We're thinking of naming him Miko, which means King in Chickasaw.
More on this later! You can count on it! =):dancered::yeah::D

Congratulations!
If you can get one, I would ask for a 30-day health guarantee. If he is going to the Bird Fair he will be around a lot of other birds. Altho they do the best they can to protect against disease (disinfectant wipes), there is no guarantee that something won't get through.
Having said that, I bought an E2 last year from our local Bird Fair, and he was fine. I did quarantine him for 30 days though.
I assume you will also quarantine him when you get him home.
We'll be looking for pictures!

This breeder is a stickler about germs...
she even mentioned that she doesn't really like folks in her house, because of the germ issue with the babies.
She posted on another forum about the bird fair and sent me the link...and it explains the importance of changing clothes after the fair and quarantining birds after. She's only bringing the babies with her because she's handfeeding..not to sell or anything, and I'm sure she'll be using precautions there as well....
Of course I plan to quarantine, and take the baby to the vet once we get him home to make sure everything's ok. =)

That's the kind of breeder I would want to buy from.
You know, I have always taken new birds to the vet for a well-bird visit. Then Don (I think it was him--if not him, then Larry) said taking a well bird to the vet is a good way for him to catch something. He does have a point. I haven't had occasion to take one since then, but before I do, I am going to ask what precautions they take against one patient catching something from another one. And not just another bird. Suppose that other bird's owner was carrying some disease from one of her birds?
So far as I know, none of my birds have contracted anything at the vet's. The times I have been there, there were no people with birds in the waiting room, so that makes me feel some better.
Anyway, just one more thing to worry about. I know how hard it must be to wait for your baby.
Where is the fair, BTW. I am in Virginia, and if it isn't too far, I might drive down. I'm looking for a guy who had a bird shop in NC and who owes me $1,150.00. Maybe I will see him there.

Our avian Vet only schedules one bird in a.m & one bird in p.m. to reduce any chances of cross contamination & exsposure.

Our vet comes to the house... she says its less stress on the birds... she was supposed to be her Friday but ended doing emergency surgery on one of her patients so I rescheduled for this Thursday... No problems here just doing well birdy check ups.

In Connelly Springs. It's closed now, but he still breeds at home. His name is David Huffman and his wife is Jean Huffman. They are very nice people, but they have had money troubles, and he has been putting off paying me for about 2 years now. If he would just pay me something along, I'd be satisfied with that, but he promises and then doesn't follow through.
They used to take cockatoos that nobody wanted and try to rehab them into more desirable pets. Jean would go to schools with one of the cockatoos who was especially sweet. They also breed B&Gs.
I know he has gone to that show. I'll have to consult MapQuest to see how far it is from Roanoke. I remember showing at a horse show there years ago, and it seems to me it was a right good distance.

My vet hsn't recommended it.
I would ask Anna about the advisability of taking your new baby to the vet. She takes in a lot of rescue birds and I know she vets them almost immediately.
