There was a major earthquake in New Zealand registering 6.8.
The earthquake was felt strongly in Wellington, Blenheim and Nelson and tremors were reported further down the South Island including Christchurch, Dunedin and Hokitika on the west coast.
Some roofs collapsed - but at this time there appears that no one was killed. Just like any natural disaster - the full story won't be known for hours or even days later.
Our Rua lives in Wellington on the North Island.
Please send prayers and all to her and the people in the affected areas.

I pray Rua and the birds are OK. It was so good to hear from her, again, after she found her way to the Happy Birdy nest. They've been through so much the past year.
Waiting to hear.

Hopefully she will post & let us all know that she & flock are well. We are thinking of you Rua. May the sunrise bring you joy after your shake up!

Update on New Zealand quake.
Rua said one woman died of a heart attack.
"New Zealand scientists record around 14,000 earthquakes a year, of which around 20 are greater than 5.0 on the Richter scale."
