I think Buchee just wants to be remembered when you look at yourselves.

It probably won't impress hubby at all, but you can tell him that whenever a parrot gets into trouble, it's the owner's fault.

Parrots chew wood. If parrot is left out where he can get to wood, he will chew wood. Therefore, don't leave parrot out where he can get to wood to chew.

Remember that they are only doing what their instincts tell them to do. We are forcing them to live in unnatural circumstances. The real wonder is that can adapt themselves to our word as well as they do.

We definately know that the temptation needs to be removed from the situation. :-) The mirror is in the spare bedroom and he discovered it. Buchee took a little walk while we were not paying attention. Many times when there is a cockatoo mark in the house, I am the one to get in trouble. Coleman even said as he went to bed, "should have moved it upstairs." Guess so. :-) We are all okay today. I still love my mirror and my Buchee.

With the number of birds we have, we have learned to laugh when something gets ruined. Hole in the sofa? Eeeh! Let our guests think we are slobs, their loss. Poop on the floor? That's ok, i'll get it out of the carpet once it dries. Roudy cockatoo pushing crystal glasses off the counter? I hope the cockatoo had a grand time hearing the crash. It probably made his day. Laundry hamper turned to swiss cheese in 2.5 seconds? My heart gets warm and fuzzy every time I look at that hamper. Benny BatToo discovered our expensive wood blinds the other day. Heh. Needless to say, super glue was in the near future.

Andy and I were both a little wound up about these things when we first got birds. now we both just shrug our shoulders knowing that most things are replaceable. The things that aren't replaceable are preserved forever with memories.

I'm sorry about your mirror and even more sorry you had to catch it from hubby, but I'm so glad that he is understanding enough to let it go after a day or so. Those cockatoos are trouble. ;)

Glad to hear it.

I always look at that kind of thing the same as if a child drew something remarkable on the wall. They will be the sources of fond memoris one day.

I have a a foot stool (what do you call those things you put your feet on that come with chairs? -- It's hell getting old and losing your memory.) Anyway it has claw marks in it from a favorite cat, and I wouldn't dream of getting rid of it.

You know, when I first discovered his first mark, it didn't really faze me. I just told him that daddy was going to be mad and that we would keep a secret as long as possible. Don't do it again. Well, daddy found the second mark. (He doesn't know it has happened before. Our secret.) We really do not have many expensive (if any at all) items in our place. The mirror probably isn't too expensive either.

That's an M2 for ya... Let's show you my list shall I?

there is a hole that was chewed in the arm of my favorite chair when my hubby wasn't looking...
there's the old fashioned suit cases I use to decorate in my livingroom that have the corners chewed up...
Been through 4 shower curtains and one shower curtain rod in 10 months...
My kitchen chairs have beak marks....
My desk has chewed up spots...
I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of anymore right now... LOL
AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT!!!

The birds are much more fun than the furniture etc... I can't help but giggle when hubby notices new beaky marks on something.

the corner of the wall stella grabbed & hung from
the corner of the wall by her cage
the corner of the wall across from her cage
the corner of the cupboard
the bar stools, ALL 4 of them
the coffee table
the mini blinds
the curtains

I'm sorry about your mirror & I hope hubby makes up with Bunchee.
