Last night I was observing my two male cockatiels as we let everyone out for one last hour of playtime before bed time. They follow each other around, occasionally start to bicker and then get seperated into their opposite ends of the playland that's been created in my home.. Last night, when they started to bicker, I said "that's enough!" and walked over to them.. usually i get a little stare that says something along the lines of "your a mean birdy mommy to seperate us when we're fighting!" this time, they seperated themselves, beaks to the wall, and Tiki was doing heart wings. Before long they would start to look at each other and whistle, everytime I looked at them, they'd stare at the wall.. It was simply the funniest thing! I've never put them in the corner, but they have seen me do it with my 8 year old niece when it's "time out" time. Maybe that's where they got it from! Does anyone else have birdies that put themselves in timeout?

Well mine dont put themselves into time out, but they sure know the word. The look of dread comes over thier face, and some times all you need to do is say the words.

Your two male tiels will fight FOREVER, my older larger male is very passive, and the younger smaller one is so darn aggressive. They love to fight, mostly it just sounds horrible, but my CAG now says "BOYS" "SSSSTOP IT" and if they do not listen to her, she will then come back with "time out".....

See just get a grey, they will keep everyone in the house in line, except for themselves, after all they are spooky smart, and they dont need to be told what to do.

I would LOOOOVE too lol. But I think that my fiance would tell me no :( we're in a little apartment right now lol. Eventually I would love a CAG and a B&G macaw. :) and a RB2! LOL i'm sucha bird nut! Would the CAG keep my fiance in line as well? ... an intriguing thought!

Ok, Duch (CAG) is the only female that we have, and she has my hubby wrapped around her little talon. Other than her begging for food off his plate (even though she gets her own plate) and an occasional annoying peep she does, she can get him to do ANYTHING for her. We have had her since she was 5 months old, and although she did not start talking till 13 monts, it has been non stop since. Really she started to interact with us, rather than to us, when we brought home Carl our too. She learned his name in 2 days, and loves to "dive bomb" him in the living room, as we are all fully flighted household, She delights in telling all 3 of our boy birds what to do, using thier individual names appropiately.

Her favorite toy is a little cage that we stuff with shreddable goodies and treats, and he will re-stuff that toy 2 - 3 time a week because "his girl" needs it.....

Be carefull, you might just loose your man to the bird, my hubby gives HER a kiss first most nights when he comes home from work!

Birds are so darn funny :D My little senegal Parrot is the enforcer around here. When the others get riled up he's the one telling them to quiet down. He puts such inflection on his words... just too funny. When he gets annoyed (because tey arent listening) He says "Hey! Stop it!" (everything has to be prefaced with 'hey' for him) and stomps his foot. He is hysterical.
