What a cute little girl!! Really sweet. But heaven help your sneaker. It's a goner for sure.
One thing I have found to be a useful tool in getting them to talk is letting them find the words. I wait for them to utter something that sounds remotely like words and run with it. For instance, Linus likes to be with me on the counter when I do the dishes. One day I was in the kitchen runnung water and he shrieked in excitement something that sounded vaguely like "dishes". I know it wasn't the word dishes because we had never talked about dishes before, but it sounded close enough. So I got all excited and praised him and repeated "dishes" a bunch of times. I brought him to the sink and we played there with the "dishes" and the water. We made a big deal about it and it became a word. Now when I go into the kitchen and turn on the water he yells "dishes" and wants to 'help'. I have a number of examples where that has worked for me.

That is so cute, wish I had help with the dishes LOL. When she steps up I always tell her good girl. Well I swear she says it now as soon as I open her cage, but of course that could be just wishful thinking LOL

The breeder kept telling me that she was vocal and wanted to talk in the worst way, but everytime I went to see her she was very quiet. When I first brought her home she was quiet too, now I think she is used to it here and is being herself.

Chrissy -

She is so sweet and cute. I hope Don has sold his baby U-2, or I might get into trouble with hubby.

My baby CAG didn't start talking until she was about 10 nonths. She mostly whistled, and I thought I was going to have one of the few CAG that doesn't talk. But I loved her anyway. Then at about 10 months, she started talking, repeating words she had heard Carl and me say. THe only thing he taught her to say was "I love you," and "Gimme a kiss." She has about 25 others that she learned herself. She will say all at one time, "Good morning. I love you. Gimme a kiss." But that is because that is what I say to her.

I hadn't thought about Patty's method, which is pretty smart. That way, they aren't starting from scratch. They almost have the word.

Sounds as though yours will be talking soon, and then you will probably wish she would just shut up sometimes. :)

I keep a little list for Tamar, writing down what she said and when she first said it.

I think it all depends on the bird as to how soon they will start to talk.

25 years ago I had a Quaker... she started talking before she fledged. Her name was Baby.
