This may seem like a stupid question but what does it mean when they click their beaks? Cassie does it a lot, should I be concerned?

Mine do it when they are happy or want attention.

Okay I was just a little curious about it, can't say I ever heard my small birds do it. As long as its not a warning that she may be sick or something like that.

Chrissy,

Yep - that's normal. Baby does it quite a bit when she is content. It is different than beak grinding that they do just before going to sleep.

I just love to hear the beak grinding... it means all is right with the world.

Harry does it when he is sleepy, for him I think it is sleepy contentment.

Right before she goes down for the night is when I hear it most, so I guess its the sleepy thing.

Lance does it when she is really happy & excited - like when she sees her chosen one (my hubby). :luvv:

I love the beak grinding too. Thats great stuff to go to sleep by :dreams:

Hmmm. I get a different feeling when Linus clicks. He usually does it when he's in his paper bag or somewhere darkish. Because of that I have always assumed that it was a hormonal or nesting kind of behavior. I also have noticed that aggression can follow if I let it go on too long and try to pick him up. I do not get the feeling of contentment from him. Interesting.

I feel the exact same way! I'll leave the tv off to listen!

Stella clicks when she's in a "loving" mood. She likes to have her head in a dark place, usually under my arm. I love the smell of her breath when she does this, but have to be careful as it turns aggressive so I can't let her do it long, I have to interupt and put her in her cage.

Sounds exactly like what goes on here. The dark place seems to be the key to it all. Isn't it weird though that this is a sign of contentment with other birds? He does this with my daughter alot and I always feel I need to take him away from her till he gets back in his 'right' frame of mind.
