Did ya ever feel guilty about eating chicken?
Well - I do.
I am sitting here at my computer and having a late supper. I pulled a mostly-eaten carcass out of the fridge and I am now muching on it.
And at the same time - I am reading the posts about "birds".
Somehow this old dead chicken just doesn't seem to taste right.
I think I will go get a cheese sandwich.

Eat out. Solves the problem. Nope, no guilt here. I have nothing to do with how they get to the store so I can continue. Being vegan is not in me.

I can honestly say I haven't felt guilty about eating chicken... oh yeah, but then, I guess I haven't eaten chicken since 1992 (or any meat since then, actually).

Hey, I don't know if this makes you feel any better... parrots and chickens are both birds, cows and humans are both mammals. So, chickens and parrots are probably just as dissimilar as cows and humans.

It's like that M&M commercial -- "There is something wrong about eating your own kind".
Baby likes chicken too.

I appreciate all your kind help -- but I still have a problem eating a dead bird... even though Baby does not.

Glad to have you on-board.
I know you have a lot of interesting stories that we would "love" to hear.
How is that Beau doing these days?
Yep - I think I am going to swear off chicken -- even though Baby loves it.

It's strange that this topic came up. One of Clouds favorite places to be scritched is the this skin at the top of his wing when it's stretched out. He'll lift his wing for me while I massage it. Now this is where it gets wierd . . . while I was preparing the Thanksgiving turkey (under Clouds intense supervision, of course) I found myself stretching out the turkey wing and massaging the same spot. I got no response from the Butterball needless to say. In keeping with the spirit of the holiday, I was thankful Cloud was not a turkey. Perhaps our birds eat chicken and turkey and are not upset by us eating it is because chickens and turkeys are natural in habitants of earth and were not sent here from the mothership. Hmmmm, its been a long day . . . I should go to bed . . .

No guilt with meat or fish I have the ability to not feel bad until I know them so have never even tasted a chicken that I have met personally. Our new flock member at home Buzbie the Quaker does not feel at all bad when he gets a taste of me, or anyone else, in fact he laughs everytime he bites someone. Little stinker.

Neeeehhh! I love meat! I do feel a little guilty giving chicken to the macaws - who absolutely love it. I felt a little guilty chopping up turkey giblets with a bird on my shoulder on thanksgiving. If only they knew we were carnivors! I only ever really felt guilty eating a chicken when I was the one who killed it, plucked it, and prepared it. I can say whole heartedly that i did NOT enjoy eating that chicken. And she came out tough to spite me...as if I didn't feel bad enough as it was.

Seriously though, my guys like occasional chicken and turkey so I don't feel bad when I eat it.

Larry,
I have often felt weird about eating chicken, but then I watch the birds eat it and I figure it's them that should be feeling bad. Linus was seated nearby when I took the turkey out the night before Thanksgiving to prep it. He took a look at it
and he fell off the chair and ran. Oh the horror.

Patty, That is hilarious. I can see Linus now running for his life.
I must confess... I stopped off at Walmart today to pick up a couple things and then I passed the deli counter. Their macaroni and cheese is so good. Well --- the lady just took some chickens off the rotiserri and put them in front of me. I couldn't resist... I bought one.
Yep - I had some of it for supper. MMMM... Good.
Baby won't mind - after all it is her distant cousin - not really related.
