Hobbit is a 20 year old jenday conure, who at some point in her life, habitually plucked until she destroyed many of her feather folicles. She is a wonderfully sweet bird and loves to be in on all of the action. She loves shoulder rides and shows off when told how pretty she is. Her last owners said she didn't talk much, only saying "hello" and "goodnight hobbit" but we're discovering that she has a much larger vocabulary. Here are some pictures and a video of hobbit.

Anna since you rehome the babies in your house I will take the one without the beak. I think you called her Katie. LOL
Did you see the video of my conure? they are definately full of personality.

Anna..you got me to thinking..somewhere I have a pic of me..with these species of birds all over my shoulders & giving me kisses..I believe the place was called "Ky Down Under"a tour..that incl. a black swan..peacock..snakes..sheep..the tour guide explained that the owner was from Australia..she wanted her memories of her home-town there with her..workers spun wool on looms from the sheep..part of the tour was a portion of the Mammoth Cave..evidence at the exit of Pack-rats..chewing gum wrappers..wrappers from film..snack bags(not allowed)etc..:confused:now where did I put those pics.

Chrissy - I read your post - and I was trying to figure out what bird Anna has that does not have a beak... And then you said "Katie".

What a hoot you are... you do fit in with the rest of us nutz.

I am so glad you are here. Thanks for the chuckles.

Get ready for some very entertaining times with her, if she is anything like my sun conure you are going to enjoy having her around.

I'm already dreading saying my goodbyes. She's such a little sweety pie and just bursting with personality!!!

LOL, sounds like you had a real adventure! We have a lory exhibit at the zoo where you can walk inside their flight and have them land all over you. I often wonder how people go in and out of there without getting bitten all the time. I have never been in the exhibit as I always seem to visit when they are closed, but I stand on the outside playing with lories through the bars until someone from above inevitably shoots poop on me.

As far as pack rats go...I'm totally amuzed by their ability to create a stash...but we get them out here in the desert and they can be a pain. One burrowed up inside my sisters car and chewed her brake lines. Another burrowed up inside a hot tub my parents once had and ate all the wiring as well. Stinkers.

What a big bang for a little bird! Very much like my quaker Libby and teil Tinky. Hobbit has done perhaps the most efficient job of plucking I think I've ever seen. I hope that doesn't sound insensitive - I don't mean it to be. It's just that he was clearly on a mission. It says alot about his personality.
