Ok, Ok, Ok! BUT, only because they are the cutest kids in the whole world and nothing could ever convince me otherwise.
Gabe is doing really well. He's starting to notice that he has a little sister but he doesn't seem terribly jealous. He walks up to her and gently touches her face saying "nice" (as in, "be nice Gabe.") When we tell him this, he looks over at us with certainty on his face repeating the word he has just heard, "nice." I really missed out on a lot while I was on bedrest before having Katie. In a lot of ways, I didn't really even know him anymore. It seems like someone new was taking care of him every few days and I think it really confused him. He seemed a bit angry with me when I came back into the picture as his mommy, but we've really been able to regain that bond we had and he's my little buddy. His number one mission in life is to see how many toys he can bring me in a short period of time and stacks them on my lap. A friend came over a few weeks ago and brought him a little paint set with big mixing cups that have color coded lids. He loves to bring me each different colored cup, so I have been trying to teach him to say the word "cup." He picked up on it mighty quickly, though I think the letters got a bit jumbled around somewhere because instead of saying "cup," he says "butt" and boy does he ever practice his new word. He is finally over all of the flu-bug stuff we all cought around thanksgiving and back to his roudy self. We have one new challenge to work on over the next few weeks. He went to the eye dr and we found out that he is extremely farsighted so he has to wear glasses. He wore them for about an hour straight yesterday before smearing them in a meat cassarole, so I think we're making progress.
Katie is a lot of work but I can say for certain that the cuteness will never wear off and every minute is worth it. I am just beside myself in love. Every time we take her for a checkup at the dr. they report that she seems to be growing about an ounce a day. We're excited because Gabe never seemed to gain much weight and is small for his age even now. It all makes sense. Katie wants to eat about once every hour and a half...which gives me lots of time to sit and read happy birdy, haha. Nonetheless, I keep warning her that she's not allowed to get any bigger. Nope, the growing must end here! She must stay tiny forever. Alas, I think i'm losing that arguement. Katie's motor functions are amazing. She's already grasping things (like my hair) and rolling over...and over...and over. She will escape from anything with a harnass, and only at 7 weeks old! She is exactly what I guessed she might be. She is snuggly and lovey and wants nothing more than to be held and rocked. She gets real colicy at night, until about 2 in the morning but I do what I can to keep her from crying. No matter...Andy works odd hours sometimes so we're night people at heart.
And speaking of adorable children, There is a hungry boy calling for his dinner, so this will have to do for now! I'll post a picture of katie (snuggled up in a bathrobe that her aunty "Birdie" sent her and a picture of gabe in his new glasses. I think they make him look handsome.
