I decided to put out some feelers in our area for possible new homes for Bhodi, and though I will continue to look, I have the feeling that even when Bhodi is reformed, he will be difficult to place. NM does not have a lot of the most bird savey people in it and I think there is a low chance of finding someone for him locally. I want to find a potential new owner for Bhodi sooner, rather than later because even though he will not be going anywhere for a while, I want his new home to watch him grow and learn about him along with us. If anyone knows a good place for me to advertise Bhodi, please let me know. Oh, and Uncle, if this type of post is not ok, please let me know. My intention is not to use the board as a classified ad. :hihihi:

In my opinion, this fits in perfectly with our mission to help parrots. You are not a commercial bird seller.
How is Bhodi with other birds?
My fear for a bird like Bhodi is that he will be passed around from home to home, or perhaps end up a breeder because he is so beautiful.
I've only recently become involved in parrot rescue with Phoenix Landing, but used to do some with dogs and cats. Everytime I recommended for or against a potential owner for a bird, and everytime I placed a dog or cat, it almost always made me sick to my stomach to know that the uqality of the rest of this animal's life depended on whether I made the right or wrong decision.

I think Bhodi would do well in a home where there are other birds in his area. We have not had him long enough to really know how well he does interacting with other birds, but being near them has been very calming for him. I have felt sick when I did my best to place a bird only to find out that I made the wrong decision later. It hasn't happened more than a few times, but boy is it heartwrenching. Bhodi could possibly do ok as a single pet, but I don't think we can be sure of that until we are able to help him better control the screaming issues.
