Alright- time to spill the news. Just got off the phone with the auction people. (here's the backstory for those of you who don't know) There was a huge bird auction in FL earlier this week. I checked it out, and one bird that stole my heart was a female Black Palm Cockatoo marked "as-is". So I knew something was wrong with her, and put in a "pre-bid" (a bid before the live auction started) on her. I was saddened on the day of the auction to see that where she was there was only an empty cage. I didn't know what happened to her, so I called and was told she wasn't "auction worthy" and was pulled before the bidding started. I have been trying to figure out how to get enough money for her, as Black Palms ARE my dream bird- and plus she is handicapped which makes her extra special to my heart (the owner said she has a neurological condition). I called them this morning with all the money I can strape up, and they accepted. So she's mine! I just have to arrange shipping now. I'm SOO happy! I can't wait to meet her. *HUGE GRIN* She's going to be headed to Anna's house first since Anna has the airport by her and a great avian vet. So stay tuned for more updates on my girl and pictures!
