we are deeply saddened by the loss of the little rose breasted cockatoo, Sir Dusty Rose, who through his torment has touched many lives. Now he is experiencing a true kind of freedom that we cannot yet understand. I made a memorial for his parents to have as a keepsake to always remember their baby. I hope you enjoy it too.

you can see some calmness & happiness there. Dusty had love while he was here for such a short time. Fly free little one.

Anna . . . you guys did a wonderful job on Dusty's memorial. It truly represents the love and devotion that was showered on him by you and your staff. There is a special place over the rainbow bridge for Sir Dusty to live for eternity the way he was meant to live.
Bless you, Anna, for all you have done for not only Dusty, but all the birds that have been fortunate enough to come through your doors.
You are my hero.

I wish I felt like a hero, but it's hard not to feel like we failed this little guy. I know that what happened was meant to be and worried so much that his self destruction would continue even though we were successfully able to keep him calm most of the time in the end. His parents don't blame us either, but it was still such a hard outcome.

Anna, you, by no way failed Dusty. Your efforts to find the source of his destructive behavior, as well as, your techniques to calm him and give him the periods of peaceful times when he could experience and accept the loving touch, comfort and attention that, we know all birds revel in. I don't believe, even the science and research communities could have saved Dusty. But, with you, he knew and had moments of peace and contentment. You were able to give him those times and experiences and that is not a failure.

The memorial was lovely and touching. I don't believe that anyone could make Dusty's world right, but any normal or natural measures of peace and comfort he did find came to him in your care. You can't succeed or fail at something that you ultimately have no control over, Anna. You did good.
