My flock…
Where do I even start?
I have been keeping birds for about 12 years now. I started with a little pied Tiel I named sweetheart. I had her for 4 years, until one day she died in my hands. She had fatty liver disease.
In 2000, many months after I lost my Tiel, I went to a bird show. The 1st thing I did was see a little bird like my sweetheart & I ran to the bathroom crying. Then after walking around for awhile, I saw Savannah my Sun Conure. She stole my heart and went home with me.
In 2001, I was at an Earl May and heard the prettiest whistle so I went to go find it. I saw the prettiest pair of Lovies. They went home with me.
In 2002, I was a another bird show, and while walking around we passed this couple that had a Nanday Conure they were trying to find a home for as they no longer had time for her. So I brought home Nakita. I was told her favorite foods were cookies & pizza. The poor thing was fat & ratty looking so I took her home to give her a better life. I also think she was abused at one point, she is terrified of a finger pointing.
In 2003, yes, another bird showJ I saw a timid looking Orange winged Amazon. His name is Jasper. It took me 6 months to get him to willing come out of his cage. He is my best flyer, and will copy a whistle quick as a wink.
In 2004, my sister called me, a guy she worked with was needing to find a good home for his Mealy Amazon, so we agreed to go see the bird. Taco, loves my hubby, but will bite me any chance he gets.
In 2005, I got Stella my U2. She’s the love of my life. I went into a local Pet Smart and saw the sweetest white bundle with the most beautiful black eyes. I fell in love and just HAD to have her! I spent the next 6 weeks convincing my hubby to let me get her, I almost lost her, as there was a lady that had just left inquiring about her and would be back later that day.
2006 I didn’t get any birds,
But…
In 2007, I got Cassie my G2. A client here at work came in and saw a pic of Stella on my desk and said his sister in law was needing to rehome a big white bird, so I gave him my business card and said to have her call me. 2 months later she did, and along came Cassie.

That’s my flock…

What a lovely flock Brenda :) I have such a soft spot for G2s.... quite possibly the world's most perfect bird ;)

Ah, Brenda! It sounds like a great family you have there! I'm glad they all found you! (Some summoned you from across the room, how cool!)

It is the black eyes that get me, and I don't even have a too. The baby zons have dark eyes. I am a sucker for them.

Dot -

I agree with you about the eyes of a too. They look like they contain all the mysteries of the world.

Brenda thanks for sharing with us. I can so understand what you mean with bird shows. I go to get toys and bulk food. Man oh man. They should not be aloud to sell birdies too :D:D
