Just a few more days.....:dancered::dancered::dancered::dancered:: dancered::dancered::dancered::dancered:

I've been hopping around the house all day...singing

"I'm going to get my birdies
I'm going to get my birdies..

Dave just smiles and shakes his head at me. I gave him a big, big hug...several of them.

The plan is to leave Thursday, mid-day and drive as long as we can. Arrive mid-morning Friday...visit Anna, load them up and get back on the road. We want to try to make it home early Saturday so I can have the rest of the weekend to get caught up on fresh bird poop...I mean, snuggles:D

Wanda,
I have been thinking about you all day, wondering if you are getting excited yet. Andy and I have started our goodbyes early and are trying to enjoy every second of them before they have to go. I'm so very happy though that a little piece of your tender loving care will be staying behind. We just can't imagine what it would be like without The Bat. He comes inside and stays on a gym for 4-5 hours, just hanging out, having a good time, eating good food and playing with toys that Dot made. He really warms our hearts. I have been telling the girls that they're going home and I know Dolly understands. I think Lucy is trying to have a little fling before it's time to go as she made some advances on PJ today and they sat together looking out the window for a while. Eve will be so happy to see you. She has just been yacking our ears off in her cute old ladyish voice. I'm so going to mis that but at the same time, I am jumping for joy to be able to meet you and send your little angels back to where they belong. They were such a treat to have around. We'll see you friday!

It will be hard to leave Benny behind. I can already feel the heartache. But, I know it's for the best and at least I have the peace of mind of knowing what a great family he has. I was looking at his empty cage today, remembering his quirky tricks and his wonderful personality. I will get by much easier because I know you will keep us updated...lots of videos and pics. He's happy, Anna. I know he is. That's why the ache in my heart is not near as bad as the day he left though...that's how I know both Benny and I will be fine with this decision. Besides, it gives me darn good reasons to visit!:D

Oooh yay!! you can make the trip in about 12-15 hours as long as you go UP through texas instead of straight across I-10 and come in on i-40 which is what we did on our way out to florida and ddn't do on our way BACK home LOL. Mapquest gives REALLLY good directions though not always accurate on how far you go it's at least correct with street names lol

My hubby and I had to work through some stuff. We sent the birdies on vacation to Anna's during the process. Now, it's time for them to come home so we are heading to NM this week to kidnap them back...along with Anna.. but she does not know that yet so shhhhhhhh!:hide:

Wanda -

I am so glad for you! I can imagine how you must feel, getting your babies back.

I know how feel, too, about leaving Bennie behind; but you can be comforted by the fact that he is happy and is in the best bird home he could have. When I die, I want to be reincarnated as one of Anna's birds.

Maybe I should adopt YOU instead! You would make a great voice of reason and besides...maybe you could bring a horse or two along? ;)

You don't know about all the comments I would like to make and don't so as not to agitate good people.

As for horses, there are 4 now, and I will soon breed my young mare back for another baby next year. Got room for all of us (plus 6 cats and 3 dogs and l husband)?

I'm a great person to poke fun at. I take it very well unless you poke fun and your name is Andy. Then you would get an ear full. Cats huh? Neh...those wold have to stay behind. My last cat would eat anything and frequently jumped up on my counters to help himself, ran at your feet and sunk his hyper little teeth into your feet, bit like a crazed vampire, and ran away with my socks! He kind of made a bad name for kitties everywhere.

He sounds like a cat I had once.

Mine are all barn cats--altho they lead a nice life. They have heated beds and are fed twice a day. My birds are out too much to risk having an indoor cat.

I wasn't talking about poking fun. I was talking about trying to educate people about animal rights. I would say "ethics," but, unfortunately, PETA has tarnished that word. Perhaps a better term would be "specieism." And I will stop right there (so as not to agitate good people) :smiles:
