The recent rains caused Lake Shawnee's water to run so high over the dam, that it overflowed and washed out the bank next to the dam. Today, the lake level has dropped well below the top of the dam.

Oh boy. Was there much property damage in the area?

Oh boy. Was there much property damage in the area?

We had some power outages and some trees came down on a few houses. The grammar school in Lake Shawnee got water and an oil slick in the basement and was closed Monday. All the students (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) were taken to the high school for the day. A bridge I have to cross three times on my bus runs was closed for two days, so I had to do some detours to get all the kids. Things are drying out here in our neck of the woods today.

Mother Nature has had an active and capricious winter moving into what looks like a busy spring season too. Good work Diane threading your way around it all safely.

Wow! That could have destroyed the dam completely.
