Andy and I packed up the kids and decided to go out to run some errands tonight. Sometimes when we are going to places that allow pets, we like to take Peggy Sue along. Benny BatToo has recently decided to join the club "bird snobs united" and prefers to hang out in the house on a gym next to Peggy Sue instead of being in the aviary. Since Benny has been doing so well (and really gets along with Peggy) we decided to take him with!

He did fantastic and Peggy Sue even preened his crest in the car. He got to meet a few new people and wasn't even afraid of his new surroundings. We really enjoyed having him out with us and I think he did too. We'll have to take him out more often. When things have been less busy, I like to take a few of the birds to nursing homes - just to get them out of the house. In the past I have taken Chrissy and Peggy Sue and they have really done wonders for those older folks who don't have a lot of excitement in their lives. I'm certain that Benny BatToo would do wonderful going along for one of those trips!

How wonderful that you have found a buddy for Peggy Sue! So glad your first outing went well, I'm amazed you can take a toddler, and infant, a macaw, and a wild and crazy too out and still have energy enough to write a post about it the very same day! You are an inspiration to us all!

It is fun taking them with. You have to prepare. It is neat that the kids go along and yes, it is a little more effort but well worth it. :exct: But I have no doubt that you and Andy can handle it. :clapping:

Awwww!
i bet the nursing homes just eat them up.
Do you put a birdie diaper on them? Or are they potty trained?
I've thought about taking mine for a visit, but was concerned about the pooping! =)

I know my grandmother really got a kick out of Chicken when I brought him over for Thanksgiving, I'll have to hit Bonnie up about taking him up to the nursing home and letting everyone see him. :D

Glad to hear the outing went well. My experience with Cody visiting my mother-in-law in a nursing home is that he now feels at home almost anywhere and with anyone. On the other hand many of the other residents in the nursing home just can't wait until he makes his periodic visit as most have never been that close to a tame large bird and they love to have him sit on their arm or to do some of his tricks. So overall it's beneficial both ways, for them and for him, thus I would highly recommend taking BatToo to the nursing home.

YAY Bat Too!!! :dancered: I just LOVE outings! They aere so much fun! Someone recently asked me to take Chicken to the school. I'm thinking I will if his hormones don't get too much worse.

What fun that must have been. I couldn't imagine 2 kids & 2 birds at the same time.

The aliens have taught her how to juggle life forms. I'm certain you entertained the crowds & I believe Benny Bat too has found his calling! Good work!
