this is a cross post..i have all the details..p./m. me if you can take Tracie or know of a rescue near ST CLARES SHORES MICHIGAN
i am in complete misery with this decision. but for my sanity, i have to find tracy a new home. she will NOT i repeat NOT stop her screaming. it is causing me marital problems, he says i never should have got her. how was i supposed to know it would be like this? she is such a loving soul, and i do love her so much, but i cant do it anymore. the hollaring for hours, we cant leave the room, to go to bed, she just continues hollaring. its awful. my fear is what to do... i fear there isnt anyone willing to take in a plucker with an awful squaking problem (goffin too). i ask before about a bird sanctuary around here and ive tried and tried to find them and i cant. im scared if i take her to the humane society they will put her down and i dont want them to kill her. i just want her to stop yelling, but she wont, if she did i would keep her but she just wont stop. im at a horrible loss. im so heartbroken. i ask for forgiveness and some kind words of advice..

I know she has tried, I've seen her post. I sure wish I could help but don't know of anyone close. I sure hope she can hold out to find a good home for Tracy.

we were able to get lots of hel p over on avianavenue.com and even had a couple of people call her and walk her through what to do...so she is going to try and use their hints first and if not there are two sep bird rescues who will take the bird..thank goodness...phew..

Emily has come to Tooz Talk a few times. She was given some specific directions as what to do with the screaming. We also referred her to some other sites to reinforce training which would help give her bird something more to do.

My impression is she wanted the "cuddley too" and Tracy became too much of a love bug to the point of screaming. I know her and her husband are at odds with each other.

I am glad she met people at avian avenue and they may make a difference. What I did not see is her showing up at Yahoo clicker group, AFA group or a couple of other training forums which would give her some idea how to have structure for her and her bird.

Again I hope things work out for her and her family and that Tracy gets what she needs.

Sometimes I think it can be really hard for people to feel motivated when they feel so frustrated about a certain situation. Once a person is offically in bad birdy overload, I have found it very hard for the PERSON to pull out of this nose dive. Perhaps on the inside they feel that they have failed so deeply that no kind of effort will equate to the restitution they feel their parrot deserves for becoming the monsters they have under such misguided care. I cannot blame people who are in such a rutt, but only pray that they do pull out of it to discover that they really can start over. Please feel free to give this family my number also, even if it is just for added support.

Anna, you are right. She is in a hole and worn out. IT is hard to turn things around like that and not to have suppport of a family member makes it even more difficult.

Anna, that was beautifully said and so true. Rehomed birds start over all the time with good results. Why not start over again without changing homes? Hopefully, thoughtful decisions will be made.
