...because the little mites are air bourne, like fleas it only takes one;...gordon thought he was doing our nosey lot a favour by bringing the budgies out so they could see them...(to stop the courous calling thats has been in his ears (as i was away) ...now we have an infestation of these JOLLY red mites through the whole flock...guess who's sleeping on the couch tonight:mad:

thanks ..yes dot if left unattended the will case rashes and cause the birds to loose a lot of blood ..and even death if left. unfortunatley I have seen alot of birds in this condition because new owners think the bird is molting,,but the sure way to discver these mites is to put a white sheet over the cage at night and in the am you will see little spotsof blood...please do not worry about my flock we are very diligent and they are all free at this moment...we know how to treat them quickly , we also put white sheets over them if they have been outside..YUKKKKKKKK

I had heard that trick about using a white sheet to determine if mites are present, but thought that the red dots were mite poop, not blood! That's horrible. I learned something new today!!
