although work has just began,,, we had our first phone call....an elderly lady phoned after a local organisation put an article in the local paper asking for volinteers..to erect the flights during the holidays...we have four under nourished bugies who were covered in lice(a common problem here).. so we treated them ...cleaned the cge and the birds are in islation doing well....everyone in the town wants to be part in the recovery programme and the school is going to do a project next year....hopfully this will help the healing of the murders we were all subjected to.... we have three vets interested to practice in N>Z.....my eyes are no better and the DR are refusing to operate....so its just carry on....

A new begining is always a wonder, good luck with the little guys. Sorry to hear about your eyes but people can do so much even with a challenge. Wishing you well.

Nice to hear from you Violet. I think it's heartwarming that so many people want to be involved in the recovery program. I'm sure it will be a good experience for everyone. Sorry to hear about the continued eye problems.

thanks for the kind words....we now have a roster and the flights should be ready by febuary...gordon has puchased prefab houses and they have been turned into a hospital and the rest have been converted to house the birds at top end of the flights... so all that is required is laying concrete and puting the pipes and netting up...the zoo is going todig a ditch at the end ...outside the avairyies and fill it with drainage material and then the feeding station is up above the ditch .like a large wire netting box with a roof . this will make less mess. the ditch will be emptied on a regular basis...as you pobably can tell I am fascinated at the wisdom of the zoo people . the nzrspa... are also helping as they have to keep any birds they have in boxes.... when all is complete we will be on nztv will let you know so you can see our place and ugly me and my fids:dancered:

Oh, Violet, I've read all your posts and marveled at all you have done for these birds, and all the others that were touched by such a devastating tragedy. You are definitely NOT an ugly person . . . you are one of the most truly beautiful people we could be lucky enough know.

You will be in my prayers for the strength and health to continue what you do. :hugs:
