Thanks everyone for the warm comments and your own tributes to Loretta. I am feeling a little bit better but trying not to think about it too hard to keep the tears away. I feel a lot more peace about losing Loretta than Bhodi - I guess because she had lived such a long life and I knew she died in peace and with someone she knew and loved. Bhodi still haunts me. Loetta's perch has really been bothering me though. I think I will put it away for a little while until the hurt is not so fresh and then bring it out again for a new bird to enjoy. Peggy Sue learned to do Loretta's call and I heard her do it for the first time today. It sent chills down my spine and my heart sank. Someone needs to have a talk with that girl to let her know that this scream is no longer popular. BatToo eventually learned to stop doing the Bhodi scream, so I hope peggy will unlearn as well.

Here is my favorite picture of Loretta:
(photobucket's down, i'll have to post it later.)

I will post some other pictures I took of Loretta right before we went to the vets, when I am feeling a little more up to it.

When you heard Peggy Sue that was really Loretta's calling, Loretta was trying to let you know that she is still with you, in your heart, that she is so much happier and free of pain and knows that you loved her as she did you.

Yes, put the perch away and heal. Bhodi knows that you tried the best you could to give him the best possible life and long ago forgave you and wants you to forgive yourself in order to help others. Bhodi doesn't want you to ever stop helping all the little birdies that need you.
