This is an essay I wrote for a class last semester. Keep in mind, we would hear a mock lesson plan from a fellow student then we were to pretend to be her students and write the essay she assigned. So it's not quite college quality. LOL

On a rainy Saturday afternoon Bonnie was sitting in her living room looking out the window. Chicken, her cockatoo, was on his perch in front of the window looking very content and sleepy. Suddenly, out of no where, Chicken spoke. His voice was clear and she had never heard her big old bird speak in such complete sentences. He said, “ Bonnie, why are you so quiet today?” She went told him about how the rain was making her bored and sleepy. “I have an idea,” said the sweet, little bird, “let’s play the wishing game. I’ll give you one wish to do with as you please. Wish wisely, you only get one!” Bonnie laughed at what her silly bird was saying. He couldn’t really grant her wishes. Could he?
She decided too play along with her feathered friend. After all, it wasn’t every day he spoke so well. “I wish I had a big house with a very large bird room.” Seconds later she was sitting on a beautiful leather couch in a big living room. The couch was positioned in front of an enormous entertainment center with a vast selection of movies lined up on a shelf. The furniture and the décor of the room was exactly her style. The room was everything she’d ever dreamed of having in her home. She looked to her left and there was a hall that led to bedrooms and to her right there was a magnificent kitchen. “Get up and see what is in here,” Bonnie heard Chicken call from the direction of the kitchen. She went in the kitchen and took it all in. It was the most beautiful kitchen she’d ever seen with state of the art appliances and fixtures. Through the kitchen she saw a large set of French doors that she thought would take her to the back yard.
Bonnie walked through the doors and the room she saw took her breath away. The floor of the enormous room was covered with granite tile and there were birds everywhere. They each had their own perches, toys and large cages with name plates. Everything was clean and organized and each bird looked so happy to be there. The large floor to ceiling windows showed a sprawling back yard with enormous trees, wonderful plants and wild birds. “Is this what you were hoping for?” Chicken asked her. Bonnie could barely utter a thank you. The house and bird room were everything she’d ever wanted.
That night when she was putting all her new birds to bed she asked Chicken why he decided to grant her wish. “I chose you because I knew you would take care of your home you wished for just like you have taken care of me.” She gathered up her marvelous bird in her arms and held him close whispering her thanks into his soft feathers. She heard him make his content little bird noises as she put him into his cage and shut off the light in her new bird room.

One day we'll grant that wish you make to Chicken. Good story, I liked reading it. You should make it longer one day when you're bored and such.

I bet if we'd save the money instead of buying lottery tickets we'd get there faster!
