Ok, so I was out of town this last weekend, and although I asked hubby to give the fids showers, I also asked him to do a bunch other stuff so no one got a bath.
My question is, can shower water be two warm for the birds? I know they have very thin sensitive skin, but my Carl seems to just love to dive head first into the water, and the warmer the better. I never make it warmer than I can stand, but he loves to sit there for a good 10 minutes, looking like a drowned mouse when he is done.
:rain:
Since it is so cold out, we spent a good 30 minutes slowly blow drying him, and he was in the BEST mood after all the 1 on 1 time. Duch also got a brief shower, as much as she would stand anyways. But let me tell you she was quiet and on her best behaviour the rest of the night!!!!!

I don't know. I always get the water hot because Chicken will only tolerate a spray bottle. That way when the hot water comes out it is warm.

Because I have so many I usually get the water warm and grab a few and toss them in until they are wet like soaked rats.Though there are some that don't really appreciate that I let them do their own thing.:oTalk about who's in control!

I worry about the water being too warm for my guys as I would hate to irritate or dry out their skin. I honestly don't know. I hope someone else comes along who has a better answer. What I do know is that I get scowled at when the water isn't warm enough! I like to stand in the shower under water that is hot enough to turn my skin red (probably not a great habit, but I have trouble maintaining a normal body temp and water that hot seems to help a little) but I always turn it down to a much lesser warm whenever a bird will be accompanying me. Luke warm does not fly with any of them...it has to be bath water warm. Spoiled. ;)

When my hubby goes in to take a shower, he takes Taco, his Mealy Amazon, in with him & hubby likes a pretty warm shower although he cools it off for the birds. After Taco has his shower, I go in with the girls & they each take a turn with papa in the shower. Stella tollerates it & is liking it more, Cassie LOVES the shower and comes out looking like a drowned rat!
I think all birds differ on the temps they like. My conures like very cool water.

Julie..I turn the water on warm..then step in with Bambam..hold him on my arm til he is soaked..then cover him with a warm towel..he always gets shy & cuddly..since its so dry this time of yr. I just turn the shower on & let the room get steamy & we sing & dance..:dancered::yeah:if there is a proper way I'd like to know..but this works for me..

I have a shower rod running along the top edge of the tub in my shower. I fgure that the water cools a bit before it get down to him, but I am still careful about the temperature. i let it be nice and warm, but certainly not anything near hot.
