We need help contacting senators and representatives. We need everyone's help. The bill reads that parrots, finches, doves, pigeons, budgies, and canaries are wild animals and may not be bred, purchased, or traded. They will grandfather in those that do own birds if you purchase a permit for each of our "wild bird animals". I will try to post the house bill addy.

Please let every bird owner know. Also you can not legally own or get a permit for a bird if you are under the age of 21. BTW falcons and hawks are not listed as 'wild animals'.

Any help will be appreciated!

I don't need some goof-ball legislator (lawyer) to tell me I have a wild animal in my house. I should know - I have the scars to prove that Baby is wild!!!

If something like that passes here in FL - I will get a permit - AND a gun!!!

We don't have wild animals. We have non-extinct avian dinosaurs. Seems to me a living dinosaur should be protected! :haha:

Larry -

Not all legislators are lawyers. In fact, some of the worst bills are proposed/amended/re-written by legislators who are not lawyers and who don't realize the consequences of what they did.

For example: here in VA a bill was introduced last year to establish guidelines for the amount of temporary spousal support to be paid during the pendency of a divorce action. By the time they got through with it, the law said the bill only applies to Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court (who don't handle divorce in VA, and where temporary spousal support would rarely be awarded), and it was not extended to the Circuit Courts (who hear divorce cases and make most of the temporary spousal support orders). Now it's going to take some family law attorneys to straighten it out. Go figure!

I doubt any legislator who doesn't have a personal interest in a bill even reads it.
