after another exhausting night with Sam, ...I settle in to sleep on the couch because it is about 5000 degrees here and we live in a basement with no ac which is fine because it is cool except for some reason in the bedroom where it is hotter than hot....there is no way I can sleep in there when it is so hot..i am nicely sleeping and about 3 a.m. I hear this screeching it's Sam having a night fright..shes only ever had two in the three years we have had her...so what is going on? I quickly turn on all the lights she is running around like a mad tiel screeching...which of course sets of the the gang in their cages not five feet from her...soon there is meeping screeching and Sam is now out of the cage flying all over the room....I am standing there in a daze oh..did I mention I am not exactly clothed either so I th row on my nightie quickly which I had taken off previous to lying down on the couch...so what on earth is the problem?????? I look and look and look keep in mind I have old eyes...why it is a fly the size of godzilla can I catch this fly? nope I have a roll of paper and every time i thunk it , Sam screams again...dear god...so Dub comes running out (finally!!) and says hey what's the commotion? I say, gee Sam is freaking out there's a GODZILLA FLY in here will you please try to catch it?...Sam flies over to him..he gives her a few scritches and she instantly calms down...he walks over the the cages where the gang are and whispers a few words..they calm down..then he reaches up and whack that fly is gone in two seconds...Sam goes back in the cage, Dub goes back to bed and I sit on the couch drenched in sweat, heart beating five thousand miles an hour...so what did I do then? hell, I ate in ice cream bar at 3 a.m..I deserved it after all that

Another traumatic situation diffused by our very own bird whisperer, Anne my sympathy for your disrupted sleep.

Good one for the bird book.

I am sure there is a moral to this story.

:haha: what a visual 1st thing in the morning.
night frights are no fun... neither is an Umbie screaming at full tilt at 3am no clue what set her off.

That was so funny Anne. Sorry about the lousy awakening, but I bet the ice cream bar helped!
