Well we have decided to add to macaws to the flock. This will be the lalst 2 that we add till we build a house. This will also put the flock up to 14. We had already decided that we were going to add a greenwing macaw baby. Tiki, is a just a month old. He was hatched on 4/29/2009. We weren't going to add any more after this but it kinda turned around. I have been wanting my very own male blue and gold since I got into birds. Well the lady that I am getting Tiki from had 1 blue and gold hatch so far, and I started thinking that it would be nice that if we went ahead and got the blue and gold that the 2 could grow up together. So we decided to go ahead and add the blue and gold. Trixie my baby was hatched on 5/9/09. the only thing that didn't go as planned was that Trixie is a little girl not a little boy. But that's ok. I am going to love her just the same. And Tiki and Trixie will still be able to grow up together. So in Feb or March of 2010 we will drive to texas and pick up both babies. I am so excited that I can't wait :)

February or March...wow so it takes that long for them to be weaned??? I had no idea....how exciting for you though!!

It talkes the longest for a greenwing to wean. Trixie will be weaned way before Tiki more than likely. BUt I am going to keep them together at all times :) The only time that they will not be together is when they are in the cage. each will have their own cage :) Tiki's will be 80X40 and I am still trying to decide on Trixie's I might go ahead and get the same cage for her I don't know yet.

May I ask why you had wanted a male B&G specifically?
Congrats on your new additions to the family!

We will be awaiting more baby stories even if they are long distance for you as well. Another victim of MBS it is contagious.

Alan...I'm just curious...who in Texas is the breeder? If it is one of our local breeders, I might be able to go over and play with them while they are still weaning. We have a lot of really good breeders down here and one, in particular, is very near me. LOL...I've played with a lot of babies that evetually went to people on lists that I know. :)

Don, she is in San Leon. She doesn't let anyone in to play with babies. She has a closed aviary. She thinks that's better for the babies. She has her husband to spoil them rotten before we come down to get them. Trixie is not even a month old yet and I can already see her blue. She's going to be a beautiful baby :)

I forgot to mention, Alan, that "Trixie" was on my list of possible future birdie names. I'll have to scratch that one off! i do love the name though.

Well you can still use Trixie. I went thru many names before settleing on that one. I don't know why but I wanted a male blue and gold named Bongo but I got a little girl name Trixie. But that's ok she will be loved just as much :)
