I always get inspiration from seeing others' bird play areas. I'm sure others do, too.
So, if you get a chance to snap a few pictures of your bird play areas, please post and share them! I just spent the last two days cleaning up and reorganizing the bird room and feel that, while I am moving stuff around, it ends up just being "more of the same." (Same stuff, different spot.)
I could use inspiration and a new perspective!
Where are your photos? :p

This one is my sun conures, although all the birds use it from time to time.

Dot, one of the things I really want to see is more pictures of your birds' "habitat"!
And more pics of the tree Jill recently built, too!
I'll post pics this evening (I'm about to embark on a cooking frenzy and will emerge in a few hours), but please don't think too harshly of me! I'm more nervous about posting pics of my bird area here than elsewhere because I worry someone might see a toy that might not be safe and might think I'm an awful parront. But, I've also learned very quickly that there are a lot of creative and conscientious people here, and I can learn a lot from you all!
Brenda, I love your conure tree. Is that birch? Did you make it? I like the use of different materials, too. The cotton rope and the wood, etc. So, I'm guessing those are eyelets that were added to hang toys on? It looks like a lot of fun. I see lots of opportunities for movement for active birdies on that! Awesome! Just the kind of ideas I need!

Is that an open socket on the third one?

No eyelets, I hang the toys from regular toy hangers & just drape them over the branch, or fix it to the rope that's on the tree.
Now... here's where you're gonna find me bad, it's not a birch tree. Many years ago when I 1st started keeping birds, and knowing little to nothing about them, I used branches from a wild cherry tree at my in-laws place. I have used this same tree for about 10 years with no sick birdies. If you look on the toxic plants lists, you will find cherry tree listed, this must be a different kind than they talk about?

Do you mean does the branch go through the board? Yes it does. It touches the bottome of the flower pot. Actually there is a dowel in the bottom of the tree branch that goes through the drain hole of the pot to keep the tree upright.
If you all would like, I'll try to get some pics of the inside of the flower pot so you can see how it's put together.

Brenda, I would love to see how it is put together... but, no hurry! I don't have a big branch like that to make a tree out of right now.
Anne, that sounds wonderful! I would love to see that when the camera is ready!

Okay, here is their room.
I like seeing everyone's play trees. I'm thinking it might be good to have one right smack in the middle of their room though, too, as long as it was on wheels so I could roll it out far enough to change papers, etc.
I'm also trying to work with Masti to get him to be more independent. So, it'd be nice to have a place close by to set him down on. (He's really like a little piece of metal to a magnet at times. He sees me... he's on me.)

And a few more (including one from tonight when Django decided to take over Gillie's red jolly ball. Poor Gillie!)

Thanks, Anne.
Always need new ideas to keep those birdies on their toes and out of trouble, though. lol! Moving a bungie from place to place just doesn't seem to do it any more.
Do you mean does the branch go through the board?
:witch: Nope, I mean the wall socket. "Lectricity" hurts!

That must be what Parrot Heaven looks like.
My friend with the indoor aviary hung a long wooden ladder horizontally from the ceiling, and it is her birds' favorite perch. They can all (18) get on there at one time without crowding each other. She has actual bird baths in there. The room has a slate floor and a drain so she can just hose it down. Of course, they have all sorts of toys to place with, too; but I think the ladder is their favorite thing.
My birds are in the family room with us, so I don't have too much outside their cages except a big playstand and a big swing. They like being outside, but on top of, their cages. They have toys to play with both inside and outside (attached to) their cages. I'd love to have a big net like you have, and boings outside the cages.

Evelyn, I would love an aviary like that! That sound fabulous!
I had started hanging stuff downstairs and my hubbie wasn't too keen on it. ("Jungle" isn't his preferred aesthetic. Doesn't go with a mid-century modern theme, I guess. ;)) So, Django has a hanging gym, and Masti and Gillie each have small stands downstairs, but most of the "fun" is upstairs.
Dot, I'm looking forward to those pics!

I would Looooove to have a setup like this!!!:inlove: Maybe some day. Our next project is to tear out the current flooring, install a drain and paint the concrete. The flooring we have now is pretty, but it doesn't hold up well under all the mess those guys make. Birdies will all have to come inside for that project. Then I'll lose my mind. :p
