So, I used to be quite the writer, I have journals and spiral notebooks filllllllled with stuff! And I thought I'd share some things with you :)
* Remembrance. A thousand tears have fallen since that fateful day.
I still haven't cleaned out your closet, or thrown that mornings paper away.
I can imagine again it's just another day and that soon you'll come back from being so long away.
I looked at your picture hanging on the wall. I never took down that old grocery list.
Part of me died that day, the day you were taken away.
"The towers toppled and the masses screamed",
That's what the papers all said.
They said it on the radio, and I couldn't keep my head.
I wasn't working in the garden, or sweeping up the leaves.
I sat in front of the TV gripping a table edge.
The buildings went and fell, they weren't very stable..
A thousand tears have fallen since that fateful day,
the day I didn't get a goodbye kiss and rushed you out the door.
I wish I could relive it, and see your smile just once more.
The children all asked me when you'd be back home,
and i couldn't explain that the one they miss so much,
has an unmarked tomb.
A thousand tears have fallen since that fateful day,
the day the world came tumbling down and so much life was snatched away.
(Remembrance was written from the view point of a widow due to the 9/11 tragedy)
*Eyes of Love
I was walking one day and looked at a face.
My gaze couldn't stray from the eyes he possessed.
My breath became shallow, my heart beat quickened.
For within that gaze I saw something more.
I saw hope reflected there.
Hope in the form of the moon, high in a starlit sky.
But not just moon and stars and sky,
whole galaxies revealed themselves to me.
And as I stared I had this thought --
"How empty my own eyes must be."
Now here we are,
and still when I look at you,
I see my eternity.
Your hand over mine, I couldn't be happier.
But the words you whispered within my ear,
make forever seem so short.
"within your eyes I see myself.
I see the warm breeze,
and every unmade memory."
Eyes of Love was written and printed on a custom (made by me) graphic for my cousins wedding.
