I used to take Peggy Sue into the bathroom with me when we first adopted her to spend quality time with her in a place that felt safe. One day I had her in the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth and told Peggy "Brush your teeth." I had her in the bathroom with me a few more times while brushing my teeth and told her the same thing every time. I was not surprised when after a few weeks she started saying "Brush your teeth." What really surprised me though, was when I watched her, she would rub her beak on a perch, a food bowl, or a toy saying "brush your teeth." She directly translated what I was doing and saying with the concept of clean teeth, or in her case, a clean beak. All of my parrots rub their beaks on things to clean them, especially after they have had a messy meal. Every time Peggy rubs her beak against something to clean it, she says "brush your teeth." They really do seem to understand way more than we could ever emagine.

I love it! Whoever came up with the phrase "Bird Brain" had no idea, LOL

Before I got Cloud, I considered being called a 'bird brain' as an insult. Now, I would consider it a compliment.

Now when you take her to brush your teeth, you should say, "Clean your beak." That way she would be saying something more appropriate for her. What a hoot. I used to take my first born to the bathroom when I brushed my teeth. All she learned to do was lick toothpaste from the top of the tube. I quit taking her. LOL

Neeeh! you see, Peggy would not understand "clean your beak" as she is not a bird and only birds have beaks. She would look at me like I was the alien.

It's amazing the things peggy sue does, and all the birds I've met for that matter. Lol. Tiki is the kareoke king, he learned from watching his "daddy" play the guitar and sing. So now, in the mornings around breakfast time every morning he does the birdy bop and "sings" we're not sure what he's babbling, but I'm sure it's a report back to the head honcho on the mother ship.

That might throw little Gabe and Katie off a bit.
