It's not sticking because it has been up in the 50°s and 60°s during the day, but it is always a pleasure to see it. We get snow, melt, freeze, ice about once every five years. For those of you who do not know it, now is not the time to go to the grocery store here. I know you will not believe me, but the stores will be full and they will empty the shelves, starting with all the bottled water. I'm 59 years old and I've never seen a pipe freeze in north Louisiana, but people who don't drink bottled water will buy it today. Once on a day like this I had to pick up greens for the birds. I asked the manager how a day like this compared to other big days. He said it is second only to Super Bowl Sunday (or the days before).

As soon as a single snow flake falls from the sky here in Albuquerque, people start driving like mad men. Drivers are swirving all over the road, going only 30 mph on the highways, flicking on ther hazard lights, running red lights, etc. If you think the WEATHER in New Mexico does strange things, don't ask about it's people.

None here..but it's on its way..oh so true about the grocery shopping..I worked in a grocery store yrs ago..part-time for x-tra $$..all six lanes were backed up..if the store owners could make their own snow..just imagine the $$ they could make:dancered::dancered:

Same down here in Austin. Having grown up in Boston and living about 20 years in Chicago, I always found this amusing. That is until there were 2 days of freezing rain and temps in the low 20's last year resulting in 240 accidents. You'd go down the street and there would wrecks and abandoned cars off the side of the road. I don't get it.

last january? Yes I remember.. I was driving from albuquerque new mexico to ft worth tx in it.. I prayed every time we passed a semi.. and the walmart we went to to get bananas (because of course potassium eases an upset nervous tummy) nearly became the first drivethrough grocery store due to an incredibly slick (black ice) parking lot. By the end of the 12 hour journey we stopped about ten miles from where we were supposed to be bought a six pack of bud light and proceeded to get sloshed while waiting for someone to rescue us (we were done driving!) :smiles:

Isn't it a hoot. I finally found out why they close the airports for snow (down here). An old boyfriend managed one of the big airports. He said the runways were clear and they could land anything, but the city couldn't clear the access roads so no one could leave that airport if the plane landed.
