Since we are a bit overloaded with new FIDS we were not able to take all of them to a vet right away, but will have to take them in shifts when it is possible to pay to have them checked out. I did at home exams and decided which were urgertly in need of medical care. We ended up taking the two eclectus, the two lovebirds, and 4 of the cockatiels. They ran a slew of tests and the results will be back in the next few days.

The eclectus looked pretty good, the vet said. The female was confirmed to be blind. Her lenses were jarred loose via head trauma and both were clouded. They took blood on both birds as the male (peter) has beak overgrowth and the females (Flicka) feathers are very stiff and dry. Hopefully a better diet will help. She is a little bit thin, but not bad. We are going to build her a special play pen that will be helpful for her to climb on, since she is blind.

One of the lovebirds (Mercedes) has a chronic sinus infection that is traveling down one side of the beak. Both nares were crusted and bloody but after cleaning them out she was finally able to breath right again. She will go on antibiotics and please pray for a speedy recovery for her.

The tiels were not in bad shape, all except for one who is very, very thin (Bonnie) . It looks like she has already gained some weight since Saturday, so that's awesome! We had bloodwork taken to find out if her thinness is more than just a squabble at the food dish, and hopefully it is nothing more. If not she will thrive here in her own cage. Easter and Scooter are doing fine. One had a wound that is healing nicely now and the other was weak when we transported him but his strength is up now that he has been seperated from the others.

So all in all, everyone is doing ok! I'll let everyone know when the labs come back.

Anna, that's really great news. I am praying for them all (and you) especially hard for Mercedes. How nice it must feel for her to breath again.

What a load you have taken on, so glad it sounds like some health improvements have already become noticable.

CBCs are back for all the birds we took to the vet last week. All are ok except for Eclectus, Flicka, who had a white blood cell count. The vet thinks she has a bacterial infection. She does not have any physical signs of infection but the vet thinks that it is related to her laying eggs recently. Here's wishing her a speedy recovery.

Great news that nearly all of them are doing well. Hopefully they will all be 100% soon! You take such good care of them I'm sure that it won't take too long.
