When I watched him leave my heart was filled with joy for his future, but of course I was sad to see him go too. I really put a lot into that fellow and his better birdy has really started to shine through. Just a tinge of panic hit me, as I recalled leaving Bhodi and never seeing him alive again, but I reminded myself that this couple does not use non-stick cookware and that they are well aware of many of the risks to birds. Rain will even get a stainless steel cage, yay! I was reassured when Rains new owner walked right in and stepped him up just like the other times he has been here. It is always a fear that suddenly the birds will make a last ditch statement that makes me wonder if this is really what is best. But no, Rain was calm and comfortable with his new guy and ready to go home. He was ready to part from his temporary resting place, time to move on to a more promising life.
The couple brought their catalina macaw along for the trip because they wanted to have him in to see our vet for his yearly exam. He was given a clean bill of health, which is awesome, and then came for a visit. We let him outof the carrier for a little time to get some energy out and he really enjoyed himself. He even got to eat some gluten free pancakes. I'm sure the other birds would have been jealous, had they known.
Here are a couple of photos of this morning.
