The day I found out I would be going to the hospital to eventually have Katie, I installed a container filled with foot toys in Benny's cage to keep him occupied while I was away. Andy reported that occassionally he would see benny playing with one of these toys but none of them ever ended up on the floor of the cage. To our surprise, we haven't found any toy parts on the bottom of his cage, either. Come to discover, our sweet benny is OCD. Every wood block, every bead, every bit of leather or rope goes right into benny's container for safe keeping. We are cleaning it out weekly at this point to allow room for more items to go in his "stash." What a smart bird.

What a hoot. My friend, Cara, has a bird that undoes all the toys, dropping the Pony Beads to the floor of the cage. Then he goes down there and arranges them into piles - by color! True story. :)

I totally believe it! I had a tiel that would pull all the green candies out of the candy dish and try to run away with them....none of the other colors.

You know Carl has a toy chest in his cage too! Not as smart as King Benny though, he pushes ALL of his toys out and tries to nest with the wiffle ball.....
We had to take the chest out of his cage recently to try and calm down the nesting behaviour!

Doesn't he know eggs aren't supposed to have holes in them? :D

Linus has a similar game - I put em in, he throws em out.

If you ever had a messy room as a kid and had your mom tell you "if you don't clean this up I'm throwing it all out!"- I think that's what Benny's doing. He knows that when his cage is messy (at the bottom) it gets thrown out, so he is keeping his room nice and clean so he gets to keep all his toys! :D Such a smart boy!
