Every since it got cold here, I have been dealing with mice. Lots of them! I don't like mice, the little creepy things, and when they play around my bird cages, they really tick me off!
I have the tin boxes that they crawl into and are trapped, I also use glue boards for the arnery ones that don't play fair.
I have been seeing droppings on Cassies cage cover for 3 days and trying to catch the little devil, I put 6 glue boards on the floor around her cage last night after I tucked her in and finally caught it!
So far this year I have disposed of about 2 dozen mice! I vacume everyday to keep the food supply to a minimum.
Is anyone else have a big mouse problem this year?
I live about a block from where they store many thousands of bushels of corn, I don't remember ever having so many in the house.

Can I loan you one of my cats? We have no mice, but an occasional tree rat in the back yard. Cats are all indoor only. they would probably like a change of pace.

peanut butter & D-con worked for me..I took plastic containers they could crawl into..placed a few under the house & in the attic..no problems since. I keep the mouse hotels out just in case..none yet. I've heard that Coca-Cola works..since mice can't burp..well you know rest.

We've had a mouse problem since we moved in and I tell you, it'll make you want to scream! I don't know what I would do if any of them were in the house, thank goodness there aren't! They invaded the garage in the fall and once they started chewing into the aviary we had totally had it with them. Andy spent a few days searching for every possible entry and sealed them up. He stuffed steel wool into their holes and then filled them. It's been over a month and we haven't found any new droppings. I couldn't be happier, but I know it probably won't last forever. They'll be back but we'll get em.

Anna, There's a product in the dish sponge area of your supermarket called Chore Boy - it's a copper scrubbing pad. These work really well because they don't rust and break down like steel wool. They'll wad up pretty well if you work with them, but be careful they don't slice your finger. This worked really well for me.

Hehe, no rodent problem here. With all the ferrets (and a cat) and the snakes (i keep corn snakes)- it would be a suicide mission. Actually I've heard that the smell of a ferret scares mice. They (in the olden days) used to take an un-neutered male ferret and put it in a cage and hang in it the graineries and barns, to scare the mice. When they really had a mice problem they would call the 'ferret-miester' (i swear i'm not making this up!) to bring the ferrets to kill the mice.
However they tend to either flush them out or kill them and leave them, which is why cats became the more popular rodent exterminator. But, with 14 ferrets, I don't think any mice will be making an apperence any time soon.
When I first moved into this town home, I had squirrels in the attic. Thank goodness my Orkin man was the dad of one of my students. He has been so sweet to me. He new I didn't even want to kill them, but he explained that if they chewed the wiring it could cause a fire. He put something in the attic that they would eat. When they get water, they die. Call your Orkin man. And, no, they would not have died here. They had to go outside to get water. They went bye bye see you.
He wanted to know which room the birds never went in. We made a deal. I gave him a room. There is one room upstairs that I now use as a storage room because it has a door that leads to the AC stuff. He put it in there behind that door, but pitiful Dot will not let the birds in that room and the door is kept closed.
