These are our UToos Stormy and Sassy with our bird therapist Bonnie. Can you guess which Too is the male?

Wow! What a chatterbox! :haha: How cute! I'm guessing Stormy is the one chatting it up and Sassy is the one sitting on the chair. Bonnie is one brave sole having a U2 on her shoulder in so much motion. Are they a pair?
My umbie only gets on my shoulder when she's sitting very calmly and her beak faces backwards.

Wow. With body language like that, I would have taken that boy off my shoulder. Had an Amazon shown that kind of body language, it would be very serious.

Wait, I didn't check the feathers on the nape. Were they raised? Maybe that was happy excited instead of aggressive excited.

May I share that with a friend? She is doing a presentation to teach vet techs about body language.

Well, the conversation established that the boy was on the shoulder showing off, unless you're tricking us and they're both female. I saw no aggression in that too, however he was very excited and an over-excited too can turn on a dime.
That's a great video for the vet tech presentation, Dot. Linus will fluff up entirely when he gets happy excited, nape and all. I have some I selected to send out tomorrow.

Great. I how Darryl lets me send that or sends it himself if he sees my other post on vet techs.

Actually I don't know for a fact either but we think Stormy the one spreading his wings is a boy and Sassy is a girl because he is such a show off!!!!! Feel free to use the Video, (Bonnie and Stormy and Sassy would be well pleased). Let me know if you need me to send it by email

Can't see the eyes close enough to tell which sex. Both look to have dark eyes. That would help some and DNA would confirm it.

Let Don have a guess at it. My guess is that the bird on the shoulder was having some mating ritual type behavior. I did not see any aggression. Now, ignoring the bird or sticking a hand or finger up to the bird while in the middle of the display would probably not be a good thing.

I would also believe the displaying bird is a male and do not have the courage to keep one acting like that on my shoulder either. As Peggy said "turn on a dime". Bonnie is one stoic lady but I think I can spot "not comfortable" in her body language too. Sassy looks so comfortable.

I agree with you. I would never let Stormy on my shoulder. Of course he has taken a few chunks out of my hand because he only likes me 95% of the time. Regarding his Crest, he pretty much has that up 95% of the time so in his case I don't think it is aggression but more "show boating." Bonnie is well aware of the risks. Any body language you see is probably part of her act as she is quite a "show boater" too.

I have a strong personality male Umbie too and he can certainly show boat! He can also become a self guiding missile when he is too excited.

That video was awesome. I love it when my M2 acts like that. So much fun, but he can turn quickly. He hasn't ever been on my shoulder, just can't be trusted. My Macaw, however, is a shoulder bird. It just depends on the relationship.

Darryl, why don't you send it. Here is a link to the post with her email addy. Just tell her you are on a board that posted the request (or maybe that Dot begged you to share that one. LOL)

Hmmm... and exuberant Too at work I see.

Yep - ya can't tell if it is a male or female Umbie by the way it acts. My Baby is a DNA sexed hen and she does the "exact" same thing when she gets wound up.

And I agree with the rest of the large Too owners here... an exuberant Too can turn into an overloaded Too in a flash. And when they go into overload --- it seems like they can't control their own emotions or actions.

Just my experience speaking.

Again I agree. But does Baby strut around continually with her crest up like she owns the whole world?

Not continually -- but quite often. She allows my wife and me to live here in "her" house.

He looks very much like Battoo (and sounds like him too) when he is displaying. Like the rest, I would be very nervious with him on my shoulder - and it looks like your bird therapist may feel the same. She did the right thing by remaining calm though. :)

That's really true. You have to play it right in the middle. Ignoring that behavior is as unwelcome as being too responsive to it.
