It only took me about 3 weeks to get Peggy to say "I can talk, can you fly?" but for some reason she seems to understand when we are in "learning" mode and will pick things up really fast when she knows I am trying to teach her. I thought about teaching her one part at a time but was afraid that she wouldn't want to pick up the other half - so I just went all out and repeated the whole phrase over and over again, being careful to use the same tone every time. You can try to teach her one part at a time but she may not connect the two later. It really depends on your individual bird and how she learns. Try to get her to learn the whole thing at once and if she isn't catching on then maybe break it down.
Sometimes peggy still just says: "I can talk!!!" But it's in much more of a bragging tone. Other times she says "I can talk, you fly?" omitting the second "can." Still very, very cute and always a hit with strangers. I hope you can hear her over my kiddos squealing in the background.
