Last year around this time I was SCAMMED by different bird people on different sites. One was on LIVEDEAL.COM.I have yet to recoupe the loss of the sum of over $1000 for an CAG
that was to be shipped. The other was through a breeder listed on LOV.The 2 birds were shipped and died in a short period of time. The breeder is no longer in business and made off with over $1600.Just because they are listed on reputable sites does not guarantee anything. So please do you homework all that glitters it isn't gold.

Marcia,
Thank you so much for sharing this vital information. We should all beware as to who we are dealing with - not only this time of the year but all year long.

http://www.livedeal.com/index.jsp is a directory list and does not sell anything - they just list advertisers. So - it would important to all of us to know were you bought from. Also - I don't think you meant http://www.lov.com/ - for that is a love connection website . Could it perhaps be Land Of Vos -- http://www.landofvos.com/

The best way not to be scammed - whether dealing with someone on the Internet or a pet supplier and breeder down the street is to go by word of mouth.

I can tell you the breeder I completely trust is our very own Don. He has been breeding and selling the most marvelous birds found anywhere. He recently sold a Rosie to Peggy - named iti hoa Tony in honor of our dearly departed friend Jillian known to many as Tony Evans. iti hoa means little feathered friend in Jillian's native Maori language.

iti hoa is featured in our Birds Come First seal of approval which will be unvield soon

Even though Don lives in Calif - he ships birds anywhere in the United States. His websdite is... http://www.donsbirds.com/

There are a few other wonderful breeders with great reputation which includes well socialized birds. There are 5 good breeders and a few other contacts that I know that have wonderful birds depending on what species you are looking for.

Yep, Tony is a sweetheart even is a decent talker...says hello Tony and whatcha doin doin doin and he is still a baby. Don does have very nice babies.

I think it is Always prudent to find out all you can about prospects breeders and suppliers you intend to deal with - not only get references, but follow thru on them in detail. I know we are only as good as our last sale, and our futures can depend on that - os the old saying "buyer beware" is applicable until you find out otherwise. !!

And since my 'good name :)' was brought into this thread, I 'spose I should mention that I have a wonderfully sweet Umbrella girlbird that has been weaned almost a month now that could be available, but that is for private emails , and a couple of Fiery-shouldered Conures too :)

Thanks Larry and Peggy - for the kind words, and for posting my website address.

I think the only reason I was SCAMMED was I am too trusting. One of the breeders came highly recommended on the Land of Vos site.I am by no means blaming the Land of Vos it was the breeder who was misleading and sold many other members sick birds that died. Now as far as LiveDeal though they just an advertiser the person was listed as a Store when indeed there was no such store listed. But it was too late the money was already sent. The FBI is suppose to be investigating that because it was done with a postal money order I'm told it's a federal offense.Because there are so many cases of fraud out there it may be a while.I have purchased other birds site unseen with no problem and they were further away.I think too many people are now preying on others and that's a shame.
