Here's my boy Quinn. He's not a happy camper because I made him go through new pictures. He wouldn't get out of his cage, in fact he was out of it, but got back in it when he saw me coming with the camera. Geesh. Anyhow, this is today. Looking a little prickly on top - just getting done molting and just finishing up our poor little head.

The last one is an older one to show his tail. He's so vain about his tail.

Wow, beautiful! I have never seen a king parrot before so thanks for sharing. What is his personalit like? I'm always interested to know when i see a new species. You should ask Quinn if he would like to go on a date with our red lory, mars. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa154/Foxersartist/MarsyWave.jpg

The third one will not enlarge for me so you have to post another one. Also, I have never seen your BFA. Does she have eyelashes? ;)

Hi Julie,
I remember when you got Quinn and your excitement. How old is Quinn now? How is his personality? Does he talk? Definitely a looker.

Gosh, Quinn is 7 now! Time sure flies!

Let's see, personality wise I think in many ways he's kind of like an old English butler from those wonderful movies. Kind of staid, always reserved and dignified, but comes out with the darned funniest things some times. He's got a great sense of humor and loves to laugh. He likes it when I drop things, fall over something, say a curse word when I've done something dumb. He just sits and there and giggles like a mad man.

Quinn has never talked other than a very quiet Luv you g'night at bedtime and that's almost every single night. But this boy can whistle words like no ones business. I get so tickled when someone walks in the room and he whistles How are you? and they answer! He thinks he's talking I think. Like I said from the beginning, I didn't get a bird to talk unless he wanted to, I got a bird to be with. He has beautiful songs, can mimic any bird he hears. He and Dave the BFA do a mockingbird thing that is just amazing. They both love outside birds and sing and whistle and call to them. I have seen Quinn and Dave and a mockingbird outside the window talk and sing to each other every late afternoon for a solid 3 months. It was amazing. And the songs were just unbelievable.

Quinn has directional feathers on his head and back so you can't go ruffling them up or he turns into eagle Quinn and threatens all the small appendages you have on your body. But his tummy feathers are wonderful and he loves
to have them blown into or get raspberries.

Quinn is my baby boy, my prince. I love this guy. He's smart and caring and aloof and reminds you of a cat in some ways.

And Dot you may hound me all you want!

He has sure grown and you as well. Not a typical pet bird...and he is gorgeous. Interesting on the personality. Any special dietary needs as we see with Lories?

Not really. He avoids citrus and that's fine because I try to use that just as a treat with the other two.

Quinn isn't so great at shelling anything except peanuts, and like before, he doesn't really eat the peanuts at all - he just shreds the heck out of the shells.

He loves greens of any kind - anything green. I think you could try green jello or green shingles and he'd eat them both so it makes it easy for veggies, but corn is his biggest favorite. I usually throw some blanched frozen corn in with whatever he's having for breakfast, especially if it's something new, so he'll eat it. NOt much, just a few kernels but that's enough. Hard dried corn - forget it. He won't touch it.

He is not partial to sunflower seeds at all. He turns his little nose up.

As far as needs go, nothing special from the others, just a bit smaller.

He was sunning before - tail and wings all spread out - and I ran for the camera and dang if the sun didn't go behind the clouds and it's raining now. Darn. I have tried to get a picture like that for the last 2 months. He's got a really great window that he loves and he gets either on his play gym or the top of his cage and suns like a little teenager. He's a dandy!
