Benny Boy, our BE2, is such a shy fellow and since his arrival here one short year ago, he has really come out of his shell. I have been trying to work with him though, because all he wants to do is cuddle when I have him out. He sticks to me like glue and nudges me until I rub his head. I have tried all sorts of things to try to get him to play, everything from peek-a-boo under the covers to finding foot toys that don't scare him away. No luck. Last night Benny dropped one of those super fluffy down feathers that look like a long-legged spider. You know, the ones that are super light and fluffy...the ones we chase around the house...the ones that follow us to the grocery store?
Anyway, he had it stuck to his forehead and looked so silly. I plucked it off his face and held it above his head. Then I let it float back down and stick in his crest feathers again. He shook it off and looked at me like I was crazy, so I decided to keep harassing him. I did it a few more times, which seemed to get him excited. Finally, he grabbed it up before I could get to it and shook it. Then he stuck it on me! I picked it up and dropped it on him and this time he was so excited he hissed! But it was a good hiss. It was a wound up hiss, not a scared hiss. He was playing. He then got goofy and shy at the same time and dove his head into my armpit to hide from the evil thing. I was so proud of my little Benny Boy for playing with me, even if it was just a feather.
