Reading about Austral conures I find them called parakeets a lot. Not so much in this country but in other countries. The one list I found also listed suns, green cheeks, blue crowns as parakeets. Can you shed any light on this. The austral does have a shape head/beak that reminds me of a patty but it could also be like a parakeet.
Thanks Don
The name "parakeet" is a very common term used (normally) to describe a Budgerigar from Australia. Another description of a "parakeet" is a parrot with a long tail and sharply tapered wings - that too fits the Budgie, and most Grass Keet, Conure and Psittacula species and on into the macaws....but Not the Brotogeris species which are also known as "Parakeets"ie: Grey-cheeked and Tui and so on...
and the Brits spell it Parrakeet.....
