Ok, a little freaky. He eye on one side is a lite honey color, the other eye looks orange. She is acting normal and eating, talking, being her normal bratt self.
I'm trying to get some pictures, will post them in a minute.
What do I do.?

looks to me like maybe she bumped her eye on something, does it appear that she can see out of it? can you do a phone consult with your vet and see what advise he/she has? is it swollen? the one eyelid looks a bit pink and my guess would be she bumped it on a toy or maybe fell?
:hgz: dear.

Home from the vets.
Apparently Grey's can have bloody or read tears when stressed.
The pictures we had were not that great, but she has a pooling of blood between the different layers of her eye.
The did a stain to look for scratches, there were not any.
They also took pressure in both eyes to check for cataracks or a UVI infection type thingy.
All in all the vet thinks she bumped it pretty good today some time, and that with the med's and ointment we have she should be back to normal in a week or so.
We also had the blood work done just in case, and a full exam done. All other health is great.
Thanks for the help!

Glad to hear she will be well soon. Now that you post it, I think I have read the above before, but I still would have taken her to the vet. I am the self-proclaimed list wimp.

Wow Julie. That was scary! I'm so glad everything's okay.
Yes with greys red tears are completely normal. As long as the eye looks normal other than color the bird is usually ok. It's a grey think. Jack has had it happen a couple of times. It's cause grey are such sensitive and sometimes phobic birds and get so stressed over simple stupid stuff. Depending on the amount of stress the eye can almost look completely red.
Greys are extremely clutzy birds. Jack has about as much grace as a bull in a china shop.

I was so starteled when it happend. We have had her for 5 years now, and I would probably have not reacted so strongly, but it was not tearing at that time it was just filling up so much her eye looked cloudy.... Thanks for the info, and knowing that this has happened to others sure does make me feel better!
Julie, I have actually seen only a few greys that actually make "red tears" even tho this is what it is called thru all of my research and what i have seen of other greys it just changed the color of the eye which can be slight orangy as you posted to deep blood red. Greys and too's are my passion in the bird world. I love them all but those are the two that get me.

Wow Julie! What a scare! I'm so glad things are ok with Duch. How did Hubby handle all of the excitement? I know that she is his baby. Hopefully the ointment will soothe whatever is going on in there - very interesting to hear that stressed greys can have red tears.

She is doing wonderful. Her eye looks 100% normal again, but we are still giving her the medicine 1x per day for a full week to a week and a half just to make sure. She takes it like it is a treat so it is no big deal.
She was actually playing with us yesterday, which is TOTALLY not normal for her, so as long as the video's are not too dark I'll post them up soon!
Thanks Peggy for thinking of our girl!
