Michelle,
Do you know what you want? I know a woman that is a Gemologist, Alison, and she works out of her home. If you KNOW what you want, she can get it at a better price than you could get in a jewelry store.
Second option is CostCo or Sams Club, if you have a membership to either go in and check out the items. They do not have the largest selection, but the cost/quality is pretty darn good!

Absolutely I know what I want. I want it to be a set. With kind of a twisted band, that twists together (I'll see if i can find an example) I saw one on theknot.com that I LOVED but it's just too expensive with my fiance trying to start a business right now. and I know that Shane wants me to have a SET that goes together

Sometimes you can find lovely things in an antique store. I found my husbands wedding band in one many years ago in Oklahoma. It was a reasonable price & nicer than anything we could find in a jewelery shop. Years later we found a matching one for me in a catalog, the jeweler had to downsize for me. Most cities have a jewelery making & lapidary club or society where hobbists, many of whom will do custom work for you some are excellent. Also check with the local college to see if they have a real jewelery making class & talk to the professor.

I suppose it depends on where you go to look and what you want, though we got ours locally from the jewlers in the mall and we paid less than $2,000 total, I think.

We went downtown to a jewler and put them on layaway and paid them out. We recieved a discount for buying all 3 rings there. Maybe you can try to get a deal like that somewhere?

Try some pawn shops. They have very little invested in the rings and can be bargained with.
