I complained that I had no shoes, and then I met a man that had no feet.

The above explains a little bit of what I am going through trying to read the print in books. I recently bought a ton of writing books to help me along with plots and character formations... but I am in constant struggle trying to see the words. I have cataracts forming and my glasses aren't doing the job. I have to read the sentence and then re-read it so my brain can understand what I read. This is new to me as I have had no trouble in the past doing speed reading and ripping through door-stopper sized technical books. But now my eyes just won't allow this.

So - I get frustrated with not being able to see clearly until I remember a college friend of mine who was in a Master's program (a textbook every two weeks instead of one a semister). He got his Masters with honors and he was legally blind. He could only see a small pinpopint from the center of his right eye. He held his books within an inch of his face and read each letter at a time.

I do get frustrated - but I do think of him... often.

Sorry you are having vision problems. I reread and reread the same paragraph, but it is because my mind is elsewhere. LOL

Larry, if possible get the cataracts removed, the sooner the better you'll see for the rest of your life.

I worked on the water for any years, so many of my friends and coworkers also developed cataracts - those who waited wish they hadn't.

best wishes, Don

That glass is half full and I agree with Don, as soon as the doctors will allow.

My eye doctor (I never use the word opthamologist because I can't spell it) says my cataracts are not ready yet to be removed. It could take 6 months or 6 years for them to be formed enough to be removed. I have another appointment in 4 months. We will see - or maybe not. :smiles:

Oh Larry, I do understand. Nothing was working to make me see correctly. I found a doctor who was willing to experiment and we found that two different contacs in each eye is what finally did the trick. I don't have to ask people to read things to me anymore. Life is very hard when your eyes will not cooperate with your needs. Hugs to you.

a few years ago we worked with my dad getting him through not being able to see and getting surgery, he now has good vision and is thrilled. I can understand your frustration as I saw it in my father. :hgz:
