That is what I now call the washcloth she plays with while I clean cages.

That's cute! She looks so busy!

Is this a Macaw thing? Daisy is CONSTANTLY biting at my clothes and wants to get the washcloths when I'm folding clothes. It's like she's obsessed with cloth. I usually try to keep it from her because I worry. Is it okay to give her a certain kind of cloth when she's supervised?

This was a tip from my friend Cara. Wal-Mart sells white cotton washcloths for $2.00 for 990 of them. LOL That's what I use for her binkie.

Bonnie,

Linus is also obsessed with cloth. It's why his cage cover looks as lovely as it does. He likes to grab a section of any loose clothing I have on and head bang with it. If I let it go on for too long it seems to lead to aggression, though.

all my birds like to play with wash clothes, well except Syd.

Dot, what a neat binkie! She's helping!

Patty, that is what I would worry about. She's got ahold of them before then I thought better of it and tried to take it away and she gets cranky. Do you all think it would be better to not offer?

I don't know how I feel about this. He gravitates towards any cloth as a source of chewing material. As far as safety goes, it's okay when supervised. But as it gets him riled up, I keep it to a minimum just to avoid an issue. I do not stop him from chewing on his cage cover (like I could if I wanted to) and it seems to satisfy this need a little. I tried giving him a wet face cloth to play with and he was not interested.

I have found that it a Too thing with cloth - more so with Umbies and Moluccans.

Baby will take a small piece of cloth and wrap it around a piece of wood and chew through the cloth to get to the wood. I only allow her to do this when she is out of her cage and with us. I don't allow her to do it often because I worry about her swallowing the cloth pieces.

It is not a wash cloth that Baby likes to chew on - I have pieces of cotton fleece that she loves.

Linus does something similar. He will make a hole in something (or find a hole) and spend hours trying to thread part of his cage cover through it.
