GOOD NEWS! ELECTUS lost in AUGUSTA GA is RECOVERED!
From: stacey fortson [mailto:staceyf@comcast.net]
I am in shock. A man called 2 hr ago, "did you lose a bird? Can you tell
me what species she is? What other characteristics?" Then he sad, "I have your bird!"
He gave me directions and I was shaking so hard, I kept righting down left
when he said right. Fortunately and ironically, the neighbor's whose dog
was involved with Olivia's departure was here picking up her dog. She went with me. Here's the story.
She left here at 6p Wed, 7/16. I told you there are dense woods and lots of
road construction. She flew over all that and Sun morning was found. A
woman works at Sonic about a 1/2mile from here. She was getting out of her car and heard a lot of "ruckus" and "yelling". She went to investigate and Olivia walked up to her. She took her to her sister's about 15 miles from here. They don't get the paper during the week. Oh, they did talk to the humane society who said they didn't have a call on her. YES THEY DID! Any way, they kept her instead of turning her over like the pound wanted her to do. The man has a friend who raises exotic birds in FL so he found out she was an Eclectus. He borrowed a cage and his wife bought her some toys. He had even given her a shower and fed her macaroni/cheese and lots of fruit.
The minute her got her, he gave her water and she drank so much she coughed some up. He feared he had "killed her". So, other than thin, she's happy and just fine. I gave her a shower and she's now eating. I'm cooking her some corn on the cob, too. Tucker is just thrilled. Elliott isn't sure what to think. They'll do fine. It'll just take some time.
Thank all of you for your prayers, advice and support. I am still in shock.
When I was in the kitchen fixing her plate, she flew in and landed on my
shoulder. Needless to say, I am a little happy. I called Deb, my birdie
angel who gave her to me, on the way home. I don't know who is happier. She got all her birds excited. They were all hollering.
I just can't believe it. - Stacey
