Recently we visited my mother-in-law at the nursing home where she resides. She has difficulty cutting her own fingernails due to her age and lack of feeling in her fingers, therefore she asked my husband to cut them for her which he did. Cody was also visiting and upon seeing this activity, came running along the floor to my husband, climbed up his leg onto his lap and stuck out his fingers of his right foot one at at a time to get his nails cut too, all the time saying uummm as he always does when he likes something. When he finished offering the fingers of his right foot, he then switched feet and offered his left foot. My mother-in-law could not believe the intelligence that this bird posesses.:haha:

Too cute! If only they were all that easy about a nail trim! At one time Lance would allow herself to have a pedicure... those days are long gone Im afraid

Can Cody teach my birdies to do that?

I have to take them to the vet at $75.00 per whack. My E2's claws grow so fast and so sharp that if I don't do it every month, I walk around with little puncture holes on my arms. He holds on so tight.

I'm afraid to try it myself with them struggling because I'm afraid I'll cut too close and make them bleed.

Evelyn,

Have you tried through the bars of thier cage?

We do all of our birds ouself. Duch is great the whole time, but Carl our BE2 does not like to have it done. Hubby has to towel him, and then once he is swaddled up we can do a toe at a time.....
