Patty, Linus and Co.

My name is Patty. I started posting and then realized that some of you don't know who I am. So briefly let me tell you about my current bird family...
About thirteen years ago, at my daughter's request, we got a cockateil whom she lovingly named Tinky. I fell madly in love with this sweet, smart little guy. This was my first experience with a bird and I had no idea what an incredible experience this was going to be and how much I was going to care about this little bird. About 6 months later, I got a second cockateil (a male which my daughter curiously named DeeDee), and the two of them are the very best of friends.
About three years ago, I adopted a now 13 year old umbrella cockatoo named Linus. He came to me having belonged to a professional illusionist and he was part of the act. They did cruise line shows and the like. Once when Linus was being shipped to port he was lost for about 36-48 hours and in the process developed a bacterial infection (the treatment for which led to a fungal infection). He wouldn't perform after that and because they were gone for four months or so at a time they needed a home for him in a hurry. My daughter was friendly with the guy's wife and my name came up. Before I knew it I was picking him up at the airport. (His former owners came and visited over Thanksgiving and I got a lot more history on Linus - more on that in a separate post.) He is just a delight. Everyday is a new adventure with him. I am very lucky to have him.
About six months ago, my daughter was staying with me while her place was being readied and she brought, among other pets, her 2 year old Quaker, named Little Baby. LB was sharing a room at the time with me and the teils and really enjoying having other birds around. When she took himn home his behavior changed and he was clearly upset about something. He was fine here, though, and we decided to let him stay where he seemed happiest. He is a bird with attitude! But very cute and funny.
I have terrible MBS. The cure for that for me though is literally not having room for one more cage. There's always stacking, and who needs a kitchen table anyhow!
I look forward to getting to know everyone, and am very happy to be back in the company of some wonderful people.
