This bird apparantly figures out puzzles in minutes that take other birds hours...
they are comparing their intelligence to a chimp! =)

Keas are way cool. I read a book about them last year. They will actually kill sheep to have meat. One pecks on the sheep and it starts to bleed. Others peck and it continues to bleed. Eventually the sheep bleeds to death and then the keas feast.

There is a section on them in that wonderful PBS "Look Who's Talking." They ask a lady who is skiing if she likes Keas. She says she loves them. Meanwhile, a gang of juvenile Keas attack her car and remove everything that is plastic or rubber, including the windshield wipers. Then it shows her leaving the mountain and arriving at her demolished car. It is a hoot.

These were the ones I was talking about (at the HB party) that totally wipe out parked tourist cars! They just get into everything and are REALLY smart and totally distructive. Imagine trying to keep one in a parrot cage! The ultimate escape artist!
