Larry, I looked up and saw Fergie shredding a feather she had molted. I was making toys to show you, so I had one made. I offered the sisal to Fergie and she dropped the feather and started shedding the sisal. (See photo.)

I hope you can teach Baby to play with sisal and sea grass. Here are some foot toys that you can put in her SS bucket.

Put her where she can watch you but cannot get to you, because you'll have a bunch of pine nuts. Cut a piece of sisal about 6 inches long. Unravel the ends telling her what a good time you are having and making lots of noise. Even rub it on her beak and ask if she wants to play. If there is any adverese reaction, don't rub it on her. You can put that in her bucket just like that.

Or you can twist it and insert pine nuts. (See photo.) Perhaps you should do it both ways.

You can do the same thing with the sea grass. (See photo.)

To either one you can add pine nuts wrapped in a coffee filter. (See photo.)

Good luck. I hope this gives her something to play with and a reason to look in that SS bucket.

Please note that both macaws are blushing!

Great idea, Dot. I'm gonna try that with my flock.

You caught it. When she is really excited, even the skin around her eyes turns red.

Thanks Dot. I put several of your ideas into action and the ones that work well for Baby is twisting pine nuts and pecans in coffee filters and also putting pine nuts in the sizal rope.

Baby is still and always will be a serious wood destroyer. I do my best to keep up with her by making toys.

Have you ever thought of asking one of the guys at Home Depot or Lowe's if he would cut the wood for you in his off time? You buy the wood and make him an offer. He just has to drill the holes and cut the wood. Maybe he would do it for you.

I never thought about that. It is a real pain in the (you know what) to get any one around here to do a danged thing -- try to get a handyman to move an entertainment center --- been waiting for over a month.

Florida is one big retirement state... people come here to do NOTHING!!! and that is what you get from any one here...

But I will ask some of the folks at Lowes... I should own stock in that store for as much business I give them.

If I could find some one to cut 2x4's, 2x6s, and 2x3s across the grain in 1/2 to 1-1/4 inch slices and drill holes in the cross grain - I would buy them by the thousand lots... We will see.
